Single Crochet (SC)
- The most commonly used stitch. When you start a single crochet in a chain stitch, insert your hook into the 2nd chain stitch from your hook (Drawing 1)
- Wrap the thread around the needle and pull it through the loose . You now have 2 loops on your hook.
- Pass the yarn over the hook again and pull the yarn through both loops.
- You have now crocheted a single crochet.
If you already have a row of sc, insert your hook through the next sc, you really need to poke into the hole under the two loops (if you look on top you will see a sc), pick up the yarn and pull the one through the hole, you now have 2 loops on your hook again.
You wrap the yarn over the hook again and pull the yarn through both loops.
