Turtle Zazu assembling

Turtle Zazu assembling

Attaching the head

Start by stuffing the head and closing it shut. We now grap the head, it is not important where your start, easiest is where you have your long thread of yarn of the belly shield. Make sure the eyes are facing upwards and are horizontally. Sew 1 row away from the end of the top shield to create an edge, which will be visible when you stuff the turtle.

Attaching the front leg and sewing part of the shields

When your head is attached sew the shields together for a small part and then get your front leg, only place a part of the end (with the convex side facing front) between both shields. Sew 1 row away from the end of the top shield to create an edge, which will be visible when you stuff the turtle.

Attaching the back leg

Make sure the leg is stuffed with fiberfill and secured shut, you can either sew or crochet the leg shut. Depends on what you prefer.

Creating the hexagonal plate

After finishing attaching all the parts, stuffing the belly of the turtle and closing all gaps it is time to sew the hexagonal plate on the top of the shield. Every shield will be different, you can pinpoint the 5 points out first by using head pins. Sew below the thread you pulled before to create nice pointy corners. After sewing your hexagon pull a thread towards the edge and pull a little bit, secure this with a knot and work away the leftover yarn.
